Our Mission :
To demonstrate the love of Christ through compassionate footcare to underserved, under-resourced communities, and in doing so, develop authentic relationships with the individuals we encounter; helping them to gain access to sustainable resources, meaningful human connections, and overall physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, ultimately leading to a better quality of life. (John 13:15)
Our Vision :
That ALL humanity be reminded of the unyielding POWER & reward in serving others. (Ephesians 4:12)
About us :
“Do As I Have Done” Humanitarian Outreach is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to meeting the needs of underserved communities in such a way that restores not just the body…, but the mind, heart, and soul as well.
We work to partner with other nonprofit and charitable organizations in an effort to see those we serve find redemption, hope, opportunity, and ultimately success in obtaining a better quality of life.
While our mission is to provide compassionate foot-care, and reduce the spread of infection and disease in underserved communities through service, awareness, education & resources…; our vision is all encompassing.
From resources that offer full healthcare, to employment opportunities, career development, housing, counseling, financial planning, and so much more; we strive to remind the forgotten, broken, neglected and abused that they “DO MATTER”, and that LOVE, HOPE & KINDNESS still exist among humanity.
“Did you know that more than 1.2 million Houstonians are without medical coverage (approximately half of
the city’s population)? Or that 70% – 90% of seniors suffer from problems with their feet, in large part due to the high cost and economic burden associated with care? Even with medical coverage, one must be diabetic with additional underlying conditions to be seen routinely by a podiatrist. Yet so many early warning signs of serious medical conditions show up in the feet first, but without proper treatment and oversight, many people find out about such medical conditions too late to prevent further damage.
From month-to-month “Do As I Have Done” Humanitarian Outreach (a local Houston area 501(c)3 nonprofit organization) travels to different homeless shelters, community centers, orphanages, assisted living
facilities, home health agencies, hospice residents, veteran institutions, and low income communities throughout the Greater Houston & surrounding areas providing professional footcare to those who are without the resources to acquire such care on their own. We work diligently to partner with other community
organizations as we do “foot-drives”, offering resources for housing, food, healthcare coverage, financial
planning, education, and awareness. With each set of feet we attend to, the individual will walk away with a brand-new pair of Bombas socks, and their names added to a list to receive a brand-new pair of diabetic shoes for those who qualify.
Do As I Have Done Humanitarian Outreach has been blessed to work with some amazing local podiatrists who have agreed to partner with our organization and take on some of the most severe cases of foot infections, and diseases in the community. By becoming our community’s eyes and ears for early signs of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer; we can help elevate the voice of those whose voices are not loud enough to be heard on their own. Through our efforts of service, education, awareness, and resources, we
aim to decrease the spread of infection & disease in the community and improve the overall quality of life
for those we serve. This will in turn help some of our city’s homeless to re-enter the workforce, many of our
seniors to regain some of their mobility & increase social ability, allow many of our veterans to be reminded
of how much they are loved, cared for, and still matter to the people whose freedom they have fought so valiantly to protect, and to prayerfully help minimize the number of low income families that are suffering
from head of households who are unable to work due to sickness and disease.
We have “Doctors Without Borders” who travel all over the world offering medical care to the poor and
afflicted (and this is a beautiful thing); but we have poor and afflicted people right here in our own backyard. Since the COVID-19 pandemic swept the nation (and the world) by storm, we have found an overwhelming
increase in the number of homeless in our cities, and in our country as a whole. That coupled with the number of under-resourced veterans, and “baby boomers” living well into their 70’s, 80’s and 90’s who lack sufficient healthcare, makes partnering with us just one of the many ways that we can come together as a community to help our own.”
Most people don’t know just how much your feet play a part in your overall health and wellness. Most early
warning signs of diabetes, heart failure/disease, and cancer show up in your feet FIRST. Wearing improperly
fitted shoes most often leads to not just foot pain, but pain in your knees, hips, lower back, and even your
neck & shoulders. All of these ailments eventually translate to other more serious conditions such as
arthritis, stress fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, and much more. Unfortunately the greater portion of the
population neglects their feet, usually due to lack of awareness or sufficient healthcare coverage, ultimately leading to a population of preventable health conditions.
While our mission is centered around footcare, our vision is all encompassing because the feet are merely the catalyst to reaching and meeting the needs of the “whole” person…., physically, mentally, emotionally,
and spiritually. Believe it or not, many of the problems we face as a community can be improved by simply
addressing the foundation (the feet) and working our way up!
